Finally....Isla's Nursery

I figured since Isla will be six months old next week, it was time for me to post pics of her nursery. It's not perfect, and certainly not perfectly styled, but, who am I kidding? More than likely, it will never be. For now, it's a pretty and pleasant space for our baby girl.

Almost everything is on its second tour of duty, although a couple pieces have been freshened up with new paint or upholstery.

I'm so glad we kept the map of Paris artwork in this room, rather than move it with Avery's bed - it works soooo much better!

There's just some things I have to live with - like hideous air-conditioning units - but the floors sure are nice.

Reupholstering the glider in the gray ikat, and adding the yellow pouf in lieu of the standard ottoman certainly helped the scene.

My changing table is a repurposed, small buffet. In Avery's nursery, it was white. For this time 'round, it got a gray paint/brass hardware facelift.

I may tire of the wall color at some point, but right now, I'm so in love with it! In the morning, it's fresh and crisp, but as night falls, it takes on a jewel-box quality. (Don't be hatin' on my sad lampshade - it's on the to-do list)

I just finished up the "art installation" above the crib the other day. Remember that I'd been inspired by de Gournay wallpaper, so I wanted to reference Chinoiserie, as well as giving something interesting for Isla to see. Not sure I have a calling as an artist, but you get the idea. Do you think the canvas should be a different color? Ben says deep blue might look better...

Did'ya notice anything else??

Tee Hee... that's right, the munchkin all this fuss is about! Little bit worth it! ;)

I LOVE IT!

PS - Do you mind if I snag some of these pics for your guest post next week? I love sharing everyone's "real life" nurseries. And your colors are dynamite.

Such a pretty nursery! I love the glider and pouf/ottoman. I have recommended the pouf as an ottoman in several nursery room designs. Do you like it?

I LOVE the art (and it's beautiful with the same color of the wall- so clever). Oh, and the moravian star- love those.

Very cute nursery! I was thinking a different background for the butterfly artwork might be better too, but, if not it still works =) She's such a beautiful baby. Her feet sticking up out of her crib was ADORABLE!

Hi, I just found your blog this week and I'm loving it. I love the little feet peeking out in the crib picture. The changing table is perfect. Love the room.

This is beautiful and I think it really is perfect! I think the art should stay green; it gives a nice 3D element.

The first thing I noticed was the bright pink of the Paris poster against the gorgeous green. Then on closer inspection, I spied a tiny Longhorn accessory tied to the dresser, and got very excited (Hook 'em, lil' lady!!). I personally really like that the canvas with the butterflies is the same color as the wall because it looks like the butterflies are really suspended in air. Lucky lil' Isla!

Beautiful room for a beautiful girl. I love the butterflies. I have to agree with your hubby though about the background - a different colour would be more striking.

My favorite is the wall color; I love how it makes the white & gray furniture pop! Awesome! Is that Avery's old room?

It looks so good! Love the wall color, love that paris map..esp. in there against those walls (remember awhile back I said it looked to similar to Avery's bedspread cause I am too honest like that?), that grey changing table is beauty, the glider, the pouf, the art...Lonny or Elle Decor worthy, k?

I am indeed a proud UT alum. Just don't ask me about their football team. I seriously couldn't care less. That's probably why they kicked me out of Texas.

Beautiful job! I just love it - esp the new ikat upholstery, pouf, and Parisian map - superb! I think I agree with your husband - would love to see a dift color behind the butterflies about the crib.
Congrats and great work!
