If I could turn my coffee table this....
...into something more like this?Obviously, with better fabric. (It's been done before, ya know?)
This would, of course, necessitate an entire-room overhaul. At least, that will be my excuse!

I think it could be done! Great idea; I have a similar coffee table that I was considering painting, but I love your suggestion.
Will you keep us updated??
Yes! super easy to do actually. try "Little Green Notebook" for an easy tutorial on making an ottoman. I made one and love it!

Hey... you've got to do what you've got to do!
Will be curious to see what transpires here... I've always said my next coffee table will be an oversized leather ottoman, in which I can store the remotes.
Have fun!
You could and should totally do it! Don't you love when you ask a question like this on your blog? The answer to all my "should I redo" questions is always yes. We're all such a bunch of design enablers :)
Do it, do it, do it (I'm starting a chant here)! The ottoman/coffee table will look fabulous, Alison!
Yes, you totally could and please do so that I can see how!!
Jenny did over a Little Green Notebook! Go over and check it out! I think you could totally make it work!
Would you go black? I love it!
Surely you could, as I believe you capable of many things. But I'm sort of loving your as is setup...at least from what I can spy from here. Gorgeous and I dig the underlying colonial vibe ;)
Do let us see the big reveal.

why would you ever want to do that to your coffee table? If I could snatch that coffee table from you, I would!
