A Love Affair with Louvres

There's something about summer and Bermuda Shutters - a classic and tropical way to blunt the sun's harshest rays, while still allowing in the respite of a breeze. Maybe it sounds naive to say I'm just really fond of them. I doubt people living in hurricane alleys, who have actually had to put them to use, don't quite share my sense of charm. Then again, beachcombers have a way of welcoming what Mother Nature has to offer with a certain je ne sais quois...

One day, I'll have a home with them (maybe I'm destined to live with sand between my toes!), and I'll take Bermuda shutters any which way, because...

I like them painted...

I like 'em natural
In formal settings...

...And not so formal
I love 'em off breezy porches...
...And in lobbies, too. (especially since they're dark mahogany!)

I even like them with green eggs and ham! ;)

So pretty! We saw lots of them in New Orleans too! Not many here in the NW. :-)

I love shutters too! There were these amazing turquoise ones where we got married and I love them! Sadly they don't fit our current place, but I'd love to have some one day...

They really are beautiful! I used to go down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina every summer and lots of houses there have these on them and I always thought they were so cool looking- they are more out of necessity there though :)
